Glasses Malone's "Beach Cruiser" Album Review

THE WEST COAST IS BACK!!!! Well I feel it never left, but I guess dat depends on who u ask. New West artists like Nipsey Hustle & Jay Rock mos def will tell you dat the West Coast is here & ain't going anywhere no time soon. & this is where we find LA Rapper Glasses Malone, right on the front line releasing his long overdue freshman album "Beach Cruiser"

Track 1 "G Bo Intro" G. Malone Samples the classic D-Bo riding his Beach Cruiser to go bully Craig scene from the hood classic movie "Friday". Damn now I wanna go watch dat sh*t lol.

Track 2 "Kickstand" Malone sets it off just right in his raspy voice......Hold up, is it just me or duz G. Malone, Jay Rock, & Compton Menace all sound a bit like The Game?? I mean damn, Compton Menace even looks like The Game Hahaha. Anyways Malone rides the "Kickstand" beat like a pro, no rookies here.

Track 3 "Eastsidin" ft Nipsey Hustle & Snoop Dogg on the hook. First words you here are "Eastsidin with my nephew from the blue division crip gang". Hmmm soooo I'm gonna take a wild guess dat G. Malone is a Crip. Obviously he leaves no one wondering or guessing what he represents, but depending on where u live, with such a nice club feel to it, ummm I think I'd have a hard time smashing this cut in the club. If people use to get beat up for crip walking then this song will cause a all out riot lol.

Track 4 "Certified" ft Akon. This was actually pos to be the lead single to "Beach Cruiser" but it never caught on & I can see why. The beat sounds very lazy & Jeezy-ish. While Malone try's his best to save it, it's just a case of some things (beats) can't be saved no matter who spits or sings on it.

Track 5 "Dope". Malone immediately recovers & gets back to business on this track. He spits "Like the Baltimore n*ggas gotta worry about Smack, Like the old Cash Money gotta worry about Crack". Real D-Boys will understand that line quick & prolly give Malone a street cred trophy for knowing his street knowledge lol

Track 6 "Off Safety" ft. LaToya Williams & Mack 10. Side Note: CAN SOMEONE PLS GIVE MS WILLIAMS A RECORD DEAL ALREADY SMH!!! & If she is signed, can they put out her music ASAP. She soooo underrated as a singer. Ok back to Malone...ummm here we go again with sappy attempt at making a Thug Love song. & Mack 10 duz nothing for this song at all, I barely noticed he was on it. & Track 7 "Hold On" ft Rare Breed & T. Lopez follows in the same footsteps as "Off Safety". OMG & Track 8 "I Get Doe" ft The Cataracs sound like sumthing B.O.B & Bruno Mars passed on smh this sh*t is AWFUL!! But I can see lil white suburb kids singing "I Get Doe" cause it's safe & top 40ish *Kanye Shrug*

Track 9 "Rich & Thuggin" ft. Ya Boy. Ok now I'm confused. Look I'm all for rappers being different, creative & switching up their style, but when it takes away from the core of the artist, 9 outta 10 times the results are gonna be Horrible. This track sounds like a filler & you def never want dat type of track on any album yet alone a debut album.

Track 10 "Car Wash". Now I'm mos def feeling this one. The chorus goz "Welcome 2 Sunny California, where there's a Car Wash on every corner. We gangsta we grooving, we Cripin we Piruing". If ur from LA then you'll prolly identify with track better than a outta towner, but good music is good music & this sound knocks.

Track 11 "Call Me T.I.". Well if Rick Ross thinks he's Big Meech, Larry Hover, Tony Montana, B.I.G., G.O.D., etc...then I guess Malone can be T.I. right? This song actually knocks believe it or not. To really appreciate this song you gotta put on your Beats By Dre Headphones Or Go out to your whip & let the beat bang cause this is a trunk slumper.

Track 12 "Til The Sun Come Up" ft Rick Ross, T. Pain, & Birdman. This was the official 2nd single for "Beach Cruiser", & like "Certified" this song also didn't catch a buzz. BTW CAN SOMEONE PLS INSTRUCT BIRDMAN TO STOP RAP'N NOT NOW, BUT RIGHT NOW!!! Nice beat, cool concept, but it couldv'e been waaaaay better. Malone dropped the ball on this one. He should've had Diddy do a remix...take dat take dat take dat lol ok dat was corny *Bad Boy Shrug*

Track 13 "No Sympathy" ft Jay Rock. Well well well, look who showed up to the G Malone party, it's Mr Jay Rock. Now you can be the judge on my earlier claim (about these 2 sounding a like). LO I honestly can't tell who's who, can you? Ok maybe I'm put'n extras on it, but if you sit back & close your eyes you can't tell me these 2 aren't the same people....or was it The Game lol.

Track 14 "Club Heaven". This song finds Malone giving it up to fellow slain rappers, dj's, homies & his family members who didn't get to see him put out his debut album. He gives S/O's to Scott La Rock, DJ Screw, JMJ, Tupac, Eazy-E, just to name a few. Name Dropping never sounded so good. & Track 15 "Feel Good Muzik" ft LaToya Williams will also have you reminiscing about all the loved ones you've lost while being thankful for all the positive things in life.

Final Analysis: Although this album doesn't separate G. Malone from the pack of more well known West Coast rappers like The Game, Snoop Dogg, or even a vet like Ice Cube, G Malone does show he has potential to stand toe to toe with the best. If Malone can get better production on his next offering he will mos def be a problem cause this dude can rap. But we all know dat you don't have to be the best rapper to make a classic, but it helps lol. On dat note I give this album a solid 2 outta 5 SLAPS!! Do you agree or disagree?
